They say that to see an owl in your dream symbolizes wisdom, insight, magic, and expanded awareness. Recently I was visited by a powerful dream spirit owl who flew through a spectral window that appeared in my bedroom wall.
But let me back up and put this story into context… This past weekend I was blessed to be able to gather with 18 amazingly open-hearted sensitive and authentic students for a weekend of deep practice, release, and setting intention. The magic, transformation, and community we created was very powerful.
I felt myself stepping into a new level of teaching. I was a clear and grounded vessel holding space for participants to engage in deep practice and transformation. The teaching were coming through more crystalline and powerful than ever. I felt awe struck and inspired to participate in the unfoldment of it all.
On the second night of the retreat, sleeping alone in my cabin, I had a dream. I awoke within my dream and saw that a door had appeared in the side of the bedroom that wasn’t there before. It was open and created a wide portal between my bedroom and the dark night forest outside. Dimly lit redwoods and green moss shown through the doorway. As I lay in bed I thought to myself… How could I forget to shut the door before going to sleep?
At that moment a great flutter of birds flew by the doorway. Grey and white doves rushed by quickly as thought to introduce the next visitor. Suddenly, the dark silhouette of a great owl spreading his wings appeared in the doorway. I was gripped with fear! What if he flies into the bedroom? And of course he did. At that moment I half realized this was a dream vision and I decided to relax into the intensity and terror. The owl flew around the room and finally landed on the bedside table.
I stared into his dark eyes and he stared back into mine. The fear receded and a feeling of magic and meaning came over me. We stared at each other a long time. This is a messenger, I realized…
“Trust yourself”, the owl’s eyes spoke, “walk the path, do the work, be patient, open to love. All is coming.”
And then I really woke up. It was a crisp forest morning. I was just in time to watch the sunrise.
