Its that magical time of year again. The air is crisp, the sweaters are cozy, everything smells of pumpkin spice, and the Halloween decorations are up. I LOVE this season! But there is much more to it than just costumes and candy. It is the perfect time to turn inward for deep inner listening and magic…
Our modern secular holiday of Halloween was formerly known as All Hallows Eve, a Christian adaptation of the older Celtic holiday of Samhain, a time to celebrate the dark time of the year and honor ancestors. The veils between the seen and the unseen worlds are thin at this time. Many mystic traditions from around the world tell us that the most auspicious times to meditate, pray, and do our practices are the “in-between” times like the early morning twilight or late afternoon-evening at dusk. Similarly, the transitions between the seasons also hold potency. As we move from fall to winter, the natural world shows signs magical changes. The portal is open. There is an electricity in the air. Now is the time for deep release and inner-visioning. Think of this time as a window of heightened intuition. It is an excellent time to slow down your practice, do deep slow careful asana, meditate, make art, dream, and take care of yourself.
To learn how to access the magic of Samhain, check out the Bewitching Samhain 2017 Guidebook by my friend Dr. Jennifer Marie Lane. Included in the Guidebook: stories, musings, rituals, ceremonies, crafts and movement practices. These insights and practices will give your life a deeper purpose as they connect you with your true Nature and inherent Power.
I hope you will join me in one of my public classes so that we may practice during this time and go deep together, and be sure to get on the contact list for my moon circles to hear about monthly rituals for women on the new moon.
There is is still room in our Costa Rica Retreat this winter, too! Learn more and reserve your spot here.
Blessed be.
